⌘⌥E Open the emoji picker
⌘⌥Z Clipboard undo

Inside the picker

  • Enter copies the selected clip, and also pastes it when you are in Active-app mode.
  • Tab completes the word you are typing in the search field.
  • Arrow keys move through results, Escape closes without touching the clipboard.

Tips

  • Pick combinations with two modifiers. Single modifier keys collide with app shortcuts constantly.
  • If you use one label all day, give it a hotkey. It is the shortest path from any app to a filtered picker.

Change a global shortcut

  1. 1
    Open shortcut settings

Open ClipBuddy Settings and find the shortcuts section. Use the search box in Settings if you would rather type than browse.

  2. 2
    Record the new combination

Select the action and press the keys you want. ClipBuddy records the combination as you press it.

  3. 3
    Clear any conflict

Conflict detection tells you when a combination is already taken, so two actions never end up fighting over one key.

  4. 4
    Add label hotkeys

Labels can carry their own hotkeys, which filter the picker to that label in a single keystroke.

Frequently asked questions

What are the default shortcuts?

⌘⇧V opens the picker, ⌘⌥E opens the emoji picker, ⌘⌥Z is clipboard undo, ⌘⌥S opens the paste stack, ⌘⌥1 to 9 paste slots and ⌘⌥⇧1 to 9 save into them. ⌘Y previews the selected clip.

What if a shortcut is taken by another app?

macOS gives the other app the key. Rebind ClipBuddy's action to a free combination, which conflict detection will confirm for you.

Can I change the modifier used by the slots?

Yes. The slot base modifier is itself a setting, so all nine slots move together.
