What ships today, and what we're building next · macOS
ClipBuddy is a native macOS clipboard manager with a simple promise: remember everything you copy, make it instantly searchable, and keep 100% of it on your Mac. Here’s what’s already shipping and where we’re headed. Everything below stays on-device — that’s a constraint, not a phase.
Here today
Searchable clipboard history for text, images, links, files, code and JSON.
Screenshot text search + copy-text-from-image — find a screenshot by its words and copy them out, on-device.
Touch ID Vault — passwords, keys and payment cards encrypted on your Mac, with automatic secret detection on copy.
Smart Paste — destination-aware paste that shell-escapes into terminals and straightens quotes in editors.
Clipboard undo (⌘⌥Z) and type-a-clip-as-keystrokes for fields that block ⌘V.
Keyword snippets with dynamic placeholders, an emoji picker (⌘⌥E), quick actions (QR, translate, colour, maths), and developer transforms (base64, JSON, hashes).
What we’re building next
(Planned — not yet in the app. We prototype on real usage before we ship, so these land only when they’re genuinely useful.)
Copy Sessions — automatically group the clips from a task or work session, so you can bring back “everything I copied while writing that email / building that PR” as a set.
Smart suggestions — surface the clip you’re most likely to need next, learned entirely on-device from your own patterns (nothing uploaded).
Deeper on-device intelligence — smarter search and organization using Apple’s on-device frameworks, always private.
More paste power — richer paste-stack and destination rules for people who move data between many apps.
What we will not do
No cloud sync of clipboard data. Privacy is the product.
No accounts or logins. Apple’s App Store handles purchases; ClipBuddy never sees your identity.
No Windows or Linux port. We stay focused on the best native Mac experience.
