What it does

macOS has an emoji palette. ClipBuddy’s is faster to search, remembers nothing about you, and sits on a key you choose. It covers more than 2,300 emoji including flags and skin tone variants.

Why it is generated, not bundled

The catalog is built at runtime from Unicode properties on your Mac. That means no emoji data file to ship, no download, and no network involved in showing you a smiley.

Tips

  • Search by concept, not by the official name. Typing party finds the right glyph faster than remembering the Unicode wording.
  • If you use the same few emoji constantly, copy one and pin it. A pinned clip is one keystroke shorter than a search.

Insert an emoji

    Open the picker

    Press ⌘⌥E anywhere in macOS.

    Type what you mean, for example party, thinking or india.

    Choose a variant

    Pick a skin tone or a flag where the emoji offers one.

    Paste it

    Press Enter to put it on the clipboard, then ⌘V. Universal search in the main picker also returns emoji alongside clips and labels.
