Make it yours
Make the picker yours: placement, columns and card size
Five placements, two layouts, and card sizing you set by dragging rather than guessing.

What it does
The picker is the window you open dozens of times a day, so ClipBuddy lets you decide where it appears and how dense it is instead of shipping one opinion.
The five placements
- Screen Bottom: the classic horizontal card ribbon.
- Screen Top: a dropdown bar beneath the menu bar.
- Screen Left and Screen Right: vertical side drawers, the right one dock aligned.
- Mouse Pointer: a compact floating panel that opens right where you are typing, and can be dragged anywhere.
Ribbon or grid
A horizontal swipeable strip keeps one row of large cards. A vertical grid gives you 1 to 6 or more columns with automatic reflow. Wide screens usually want the grid, laptops usually want the ribbon.
Sizing by dragging
Card width and height are set by dragging the corner handle on any card, live in the drawer. Card spacing and the drawer’s outer padding have their own controls, so you can make the picker compact without making the previews unreadable.
Card action footers
Choose between distraction free hover cards and always visible action footers carrying Pin, Diff, JSON, Plain Text, Burn and Delete. Always visible costs a little space and saves a hover.
Tips
- Set the layout once per machine. A 27 inch display and a 13 inch laptop rarely want the same density.
- If controls ever feel cramped, widen the drawer before shrinking the cards. The command row spans the full picker width.
Set the picker up for the way you work
- 1 Choose a placement
Screen Bottom is the classic horizontal card ribbon. Screen Top drops down under the menu bar. Screen Left and Screen Right are vertical side drawers. Mouse Pointer is a compact floating panel that appears where you are typing.
- 2 Pick a layout
Switch between a single-row swipeable card strip and a multi-column grid, from 1 to 6 or more columns, with cards reflowing automatically.
- 3 Size the cards
Drag the corner handle on any preview card to change card width and height live, without opening a settings menu.
- 4 Tune the spacing
Adjust the gap between cards and the padding around the edge of the drawer until the density suits your screen.
Frequently asked questions
Which placement should I use?
Mouse Pointer if you want the picker where your cursor already is, a side drawer if you work on a large display, and Screen Bottom if you like the classic ribbon that never covers what you are reading.
Can I move the floating panel?
Yes. The pointer panel can be dragged anywhere on screen.
Can I hide the toolbar?
Yes. You can show or hide the toolbar and the clip count, and choose whether card actions are always visible or appear on hover.
