What it does
Screenshots are the one thing everyone takes constantly and files nowhere. ClipBuddy watches the folders you nominate and adds each new capture to your history as it appears, so screenshots are searchable in the same place as everything else you copied.
Recordings too
A screen recording is captured with a real frame from the video as its thumbnail, so you can tell recordings apart at a glance. Pasting one pastes the file itself, not a picture of it.
Pair it with a rule
A rule that files every screenshot into a Screenshots collection turns this from a stream into an archive, and takes one click from the Starter Rules gallery.
Tips
- Watch your Desktop and whatever folder your capture tool is set to. Two folders cover almost everyone.
- If you take a lot of screenshots of sensitive dashboards, pair this with redaction before sharing any of them.
Turn on automatic screenshot capture
- 1 Open the screenshots setting
In ClipBuddy Settings, find the screenshot capture section.
- 2 Choose the folders to watch
Pick the folders your screenshots are saved to. You can watch as many as you like, not only the Desktop. Nothing outside the folders you choose is accessed.
- 3 Take a screenshot as usual
Press ⌘⇧3, ⌘⇧4 or ⌘⇧5. The capture joins your history the moment it is written, without you copying it.
- 4 Search it by its words
Text recognition runs at capture, so you can search for words inside the screenshot straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Does ClipBuddy read my whole disk?
No. It watches only the folders you choose, and it accesses nothing else.
Are screen recordings included?
Yes. Recordings are captured with a real video frame thumbnail, and pasting one drops the actual file.
What if I save screenshots somewhere unusual?
Add that folder to the watch list. The setting takes as many folders as you use.
